The Legal Network Meeting was held Saturday morning. The five Sea Grant Legal Programs were represented – Louisiana, Mississippi-Alabama, Rhode Island, North Carolina, and the National Law Program.
The meeting consisted of program updates and a look at where the Legal Network is going. While each law program has its own unique local issues, the main themes that all the programs seem to be dealing with to some degree include oil spill law, marine spatial planning, climate change impacts on local policy decisions, and water quantity (and quality) issues. Additionally, all of the legal programs are involved in higher education, in teaching law and policy classes to law students, undergraduates, and graduate students. The law programs are going to begin to compile all of their course syllabi, reading lists, and activities in order to facilitate further involvement in education and outreach.
